New Game Incoming

Well, I've been planning a new game, with a new set of people. I'll bring info later, but I wanted to set up the transition.

This will be a "demonstration" game of 4th Edition, to see if the players enjoy it, and enjoy having me as a DM. These are people who really like 3.5 and Pathfinder style D&D and hate the MMO-ness of 4th Edition.

My goals are to A) Show that RP is still good in 4th Edition, B) Make combat fun and exciting and force them to use their abilities and not just spam At-Will abilities, C) Develop an interesting storyline with their characters that makes them want to finish the story and therefore play again, and finally D) Have fun!

The team is 3 players this time around. The players are two Tieflings, one is a Sorcerer, the other is a Sword Mage. The third player is a Dwarf Warlord.

Current set up is that the Teiflings are attempting to regain glory to the nobility that they were once a part of. The Dwarf, who belongs to the new kingdom, is there to help them, not achieve this personal goal, but because their current actions are leading them to also help the current empire.

Due to the goals of the Sorcerer's father, and the dealings associated with those goals, the Sorcerer has a debt he must pay off.

With the barest of plot, we'll see how this goes.

Introducing: The Storm Bringer

Andez sits around the campfire, telling the tale again, as a passing merchant decided to share the fire with your group. "I was on the Astenwary, a massive passenger ship. I was a guard you see. When all of a sudden, we were hit by a massive storm! It was coming at us for at least three different directions! So I went to the passengers rooms to check on them, they were strapped to their beds, praying to their gods to save them, and I noticed that their magical goodies were sitting out there being tossed about, and if I had left it like that, half of them would have been impaled! So I grabbed the clothes, and weapons, and items from each room, to take to storage mind you, and to keep them safe. So as I crossed the deck to the storage room, a massive bolt of lightning came right at me and next thing I knew I was washed ashore on this god-forsaken peninsula, my clothes ruined, and magic and lightning flowing through my veins. That's as honest a truth as you'll hear out of anybody."

Introducing: Rayne Soshanee

Rayne Soshanee, a not so typical elf with blond hair that looks like spun rays of the sun, long and wavy to his waist and pulled back by a leather strap. Tall, he moves with the litheness of a cat, his deep green eyes sparkle when he smiles widely, but don't be fooled, those eyes are quick to read one like a book and sharp as an arrow in the sight of danger. He goes and picks up a lute and begins picking its strings, Rayne grins performing for a small group of people while his friends get ready to eat at a table in the corner of the cozy inn. He wore his favorite bearskin sleeveless jacket over a red heavy shirt. Gently he tapped his bearskin boots on the floor rug to the rhythm of the happy song he was delighting the people with. The light from the fireplace danced over his fair skin, almost making him appear to be glowing.

Introducing: Thei’la’del

I sat all night, looking at the sky. Until, the dawning, cresting sun. My heart became drenched in sunshine, and I could not stay any longer.

I walked with purpose to make plans into reality. First Chromwyn, then Andez, and finally Rayne. One by one the spirit of Avandra guided my words, and their hearts to a single purpose.

So with mace, dagger, sword and bow, we take up arms to crack the shell of our world. We will escape our world, and find a greater destiny among the stars, and the heavens!

Introducing: Chromwyn Rageborn

My mother she used to tell me “Son, you better get to church, it’s a dark world out there and it’s only getting worse.”  I used to see the world in black and white, good and evil. I remember that night, the screams of the egg watchers echoed in the darkness, as we were being raided by the blasted undead armies from the north.  I saw my brothers dying on the battlefield, a sea of blood and scales, and taking their arms, I took action against the blighted incoming hordes.

One after the other I cut through the throng. It must of been hours later, before it ended, before I could stop.  My training was that battlefield.  My mastery was the deathly swirl and the sharp singing of my blade.  My art, my life, is what I hold in my hands.

I remember feeling so alive that night, I looked into her eyes, and knew what it was to pray.  I used to see black and white, but now I see everything as red.  And in the name of the Raven Queen, I shall smite all those who stand before me.

Set up, history, and an answer

Hello, I am Pangoria Fallstar, and welcome to Modified Roll, a role-playing blog about my adventures as a dungeon master.

The purpose of this blog is to keep a record of sorts, of what is happening in the current D&D4e game that I'm DMing. This will hopefully include maps, transcripts of scenes, descriptions of rooms, back stories, fun anecdotes, and more!

For those who wish to follow along, please do, give your insights to the decisions of both player and DM, and maybe even give ideas that might be fun!

The ultimate goal for this, is to be able to look back at the events of the game, and see what we've been through as friends, and companions.
